Oh, the wonder and beauty of sewing with Pendleton wool. I remember when you could purchase it by the yard at Joan Fabrics and individual fabric stores. The plaids. the solids, the ease of creating with a wonderful US made fabric. Where can you purchase it now?

Would love to win this book. Dorr Woolen Mill who carries Pendleton Wool is only about 45 mins from my home. Visit often for Penny Rug, Hooking and Quilting supplies. Beautiful Pendleton Products from blankets to clothing in the store. Sadly I am old enough to remember when the mill was running and the fabric was made in NH.

  36. CTAZquilter | | #36

I have been sewing with Pendleton wools since the 60s. It's the BEST wool fabric in the USA! And I try to always buy American fabrics. This has become harder and harder. I'm a quilter, and most cottons are NOT made in the USA.

  37. kagssg | | #37

This could help purge my awful scrap collection and allow breathing room in the sewing room! kag

I have been collecting Pendleton garments from thrift stores ever since my Dad gave me his Pendleton shirt he received from my mother on their first Christmas in the 1940's. The workmanship is always superb and the clothing is a pleasure to wear. I would love to learn other ways this fabric is used beyond clothing.

  53. msbyrdt | | #53

It seems like an interesting, informative book to own. Plus my Mom loved Pendleton clothing. I picked up the trait. One of my favorite clothing items was a red long cape that my Father fought me.

While Threads magazine is a treasure trove of helpful hints and information, a copy of the Hand Stitched Home signed by the author would be a special treasure. Home sewing is my passion and that of the members of our church ministry. There seem to be many projects that would be of interest to members of our rural upstate NY community who would benefit from these completed projects. One of our members winters in AZ and can bring these projects to the ministry there, too! What a wonderful blessing to work with a prestigious wool!

Even though our machines are high tech, there is a lot to be said for knowing how to do hand sewing. We should all know how to do this.

I have a few yards of Pendleton fabric that I need to something creative with. I would love to have this book.

  95. LadyEllenR | | #95

We had toured the Fairbault Woolen mills many years ago and watching the fabric being made was a fascinating process. It would be interesting to read about how Pendleton Woolen mills produce their fabric. Projects are always welcome to add to my collection!

Hand Stitched Work, a very meditative medium to work in. It is most satisfying when not being judged or for hire. Having the moments to work a design onto fabric or fabric into a design that is hand wrought gives me a great deal of pleasure.

  99. Lainbrain | | #99

I'd love to win this book on handstitching. Love to quilt by machine, not so good at hand sewing.

A lot of projects can be machine or hand stitched but I do feel that hand stitching adds a therapy edge that can't be compared to anything else, especially when you look at your completed project!
